Community Waste Initiatives - Online Event sparks creation of working waste group for Dorset

This successful evening had over 50 participants including individuals and those representing the many groups throughout Dorset who are interested/active in the challenges around community waste management. The response has been huge, including 9 pages of chat and much follow up dialogue already.

Thanks also to those who were unable to attend and wish to know more about the creation of our new group whose aim is to network together, sharing best practices and discovering new initiatives in which we all can take part. With appropriate support from our council we hope to develop more efficient solutions to materials management throughout our communities thereby unlocking the desire of so many individuals to do more to address environmental issues in a way that they can in the place they call home. The Cerne Valley initiative clearly shows just one example of what can be achieved but there are many others who, by now joining together in our new group, may be able to achieve so much more.

We’re now eager to create a Dorset wide working Waste Innovation Team. If you are part of an established community waste initiative, a group who are interested in setting one up, or someone who has experience in the field, or are just keen to know more and get involved please register your interest to hear more about this group by completing this form
