Bookkeeper
Are you an experienced bookkeeper with some time to give?
We are looking for a Volunteer Bookkeeper to support Dorset CAN with some key tasks.
Ideally we are looking for someone with prior bookkeeping and charity experience, who could support us for approximately 2 days work per month, spread out into weekly (possibly some daily) activities.
Key Tasks would include:
- Access the DCAN bank account. Receive receipts and set up payments.
- Regularly update the bookkeeping system ensuring funds are allocated to the appropriate project.
- Prepare monthly Income and Expenditure statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports
- Ensure compliance with Charities Commission regulations.
- Manage data integrity and documentation. Ensure data is correct and improve data entry processes and controls.
- Assist with the preparation of Year End returns (creditors, debtors, prepayments and deferred income)
- Process Gift Aid claims
The role would be flexible, working from home and on a voluntary basis. Become part of a friendly team of dedicated volunteers helping make a difference to a worthwhile cause working at the very heart of our charity.
If you are interested in the role or have further questions, please email DorsetCAN@gmail.com with a summary of your relevant experience or a CV and/or your questions.

Have you got a relevant background? Have you carried out this role for another organisation? Have you recently retired as an accountant and are looking to use your skills to tackle the climate and ecological emergency?
Please contact Henry if you would like an informal chat: henrylovegrove@btinternet.com or dorsetcan@gmail.com to apply.
