Chris and Angela live in a 1950s detached bungalow. The main goal with the improve-ments they have made was to reduce electricity usage and reliance on the grid. This has been done by installation of a standard solar array and house battery. The house has a complex roof and various shading issues, power optimisers on each panel maximise the output.

They have also switched to Octopus intelligent go with a very low cost night rate at a frac-tion of normal daily rates. The house battery is charged by Solar energy during the day, and allows stored energy to be used overnight. The very low cost rate is used to charge our EV. During summer months electricity is exported building up significant credit, this allows for a low monthly charge all year.

As rooms have been upgraded, insulation has been added as appropriate including insu-lated plasterboard internal wall insulation and on the dormer ceilings. Low energy lighting throughout and appliances replaced with energy efficient ones. This includes an efficient heat pump condensing tumble dryer used when unable to dry outside.

Parking: off street parking either directly outside the property on the road, or on Coneygar Lane.
