Dorchester Transport Action Group (DTAG) is one of a network of 6 TAG across Dorset. Addressing everyday transport issues and working towards longer term decarbonisation of the transport system. We are a voluntary, constituted group and are supported by both Dorset council and Dorchester Town Council. The Frome River Action Group is engaged in a project in cooperation with Dorset Wildlife Trust and the AONB to try to eliminate the invasive weed ‘Himalayan Balsam’ (HB) from the Upper Frome Catchment area. Started in July 2018 carrying out extensive surveys along the Frome and its tributaries. In 2019 and 2020 we did more work at the ponds removing HB near the source of the Frome. We aim to have the Upper Frome Catchment area designated as a Himalayan Balsam Free Area (HBFA).

Hazelbury Bryan is a large parish of 997 hectares (2,415 acres) in the south-west of the Blackmore Vale. It is bounded to the north by Ridge Drove, Smetherd Farm and Deadmoor Common, by Mount Pleasant Farm on the east, Park Gate to the South and a tributary of the River Lydden in the west, joining the Lydden itself south of Lyddon House. The village comprises seven separate hamlets of Kingston, Wonston (and Pleck), Pidney, Partway, Woodrow, Droop and Park Gate, with open fields between them. This arrangement is unusual, if not unique, in Dorset. Location, environment and the sense of community are what residents say is important and unique about the area.

Marnhull Green TEAMS’ name was given to us by local schoolchildren. ‘TEAMS’ stands for ‘Taking the Environment Around Marnhull Seriously’. Ours is an umbrella organisation for a number of ongoing village projects: a community allotment and orchard, a recycling initiative, and supporting the Dorset Green Living Project.
We are a non-profit making social enterprise. We run a repair, recyle and reuse cafe at Marnhull Village Hall most Saturday’s 10-12pm.
My life’s work has been to learn about, study and explore the way we move in daily life and, in parallel, to engage with movement as an art form. I have studied movement (notably Amerta Movement for over 30 years, with Suprapto Suryodarmo), explored movement as a form of meditation, worked as a movement psychotherapist, completed a PhD on ecological movement and I have created an annual programme of movement workshops and courses that I call Move into Life®.

Shaftesbury Town Council declared a Climate Emergency in 2019, resolving to form a working group with members of the community to draw up a plan for action. Friends of the Earth UK has a network of over 200 local groups around the country, all working to improve our environment. The West Dorset group has campaigned for renewable energy, planting more trees, reducing the amount of plastic we produce.
Objectives are to seek and achieve sustainable improvement in transport systems in West Dorset (Beaminster, Bridport, Lyme Regis, Maiden Newton and surrounding areas) and sustainable improvement in transport links within the WATAG area, neighbouring counties and elsewhere. WATAG was established in June 2001 and holds bi-monthly meetings which provide a forum for those with transport interests, including Dorset, Town and Parish councillors and officers, rail and bus operators and other groups as well as members of the travelling public.
