Letter to Cllr. Spencer Flower, Dorset Council, 8th June 2022
Dear Cllr Flower,
Yesterday Councillor Mark Roberts mentioned at the Burton Bradstock Parish Council Meeting that Dorset Council have formally removed the provision of 9000 houses for BCP "unmet need" in the Draft Local Plan. Please could you confirm if this is true or not.
We have also heard rumours that Dorset Council is now aiming for total housing numbers around 22,000 over the 17-year term of the Local Plan. Please could you also confirm if this is true.
Given that the government have now started the process to bring into law their Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill which contains several important changes to the planning process, can you tell us whether any additional concessions are likely to be granted to Dorset following your discussions with government ministers.
We have been starved of any public information about the results of last year's consultation exercise and also on the content and timetable for the new draft Local Plan. We would appreciate any further public information on this critical document that will have such an important influence over the people of Dorset in the coming decades.
Many thanks
